Importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and wine professionals from all over Brazil will be visiting Serra Gaúcha from May 6 to 8. Spaces from Portugal and Italy are among the international highlights.
The wine sector is approaching one of the most important wine business fairs in Latin America. Wine South America (WSA) will take place from May 6 to 8 in Bento Gonçalves, the national wine capital, and is gaining even more strength by attracting new countries to its 5th edition. Portugal, which ranks among the world’s top 10 wine exporting countries (in terms of value and export volume), will be present for the first time at the Wines of Portugal stand. More than ten wineries will be representing various Portuguese producing regions, such as Alentejo and Lisbon. The WSA will also feature premium wineries from countries such as Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Spain and France, among others.
New Brazilian wine regions will also be participating in the WSA for the first time. Wineries from Pernambuco, especially the São Francisco Valley region, and from the center of the country, Brasília, are among the confirmed names. And the new features are not only among the participants, but also in the schedule of lectures, workshops and masterclasses.
Being held for the first time in the first half of the year, the 5th edition of Wine South America takes place precisely at a time of year that is extremely promising for winter sales – since it is when the lower temperatures appear that consumers make space in the cellar to purchase wines. “One of the strengths of WSA is that it takes place in the largest grape-producing region in the country, which allows the buyers to visit wineries and face-to-face negotiations. The change to the first half of the year is strategic because it boosts winter sales, which are very important for the sector,” explains Marcos Milanez Milaneze, director of the WSA.
The event is aimed at wine professionals and, over three days, the fair is expected to promote more than 2,000 business meetings, confirming its vocation to bring together qualified buyers and also to be a platform for relationships and sales between the world of wine and Latin America.
Italy doubles its participation in WSA in 2025.
WSA is organized by Milanez & Milaneze, a company of the Veronafiere Group, the leading exhibition organizer in Italy and the second largest in Europe in terms of turnover. For this reason, the Brazilian fair relies on the expertise of Vinitaly, which has been the world’s leading trade fair in the wine sector for over 50 years.
The Italian participation is one of the international highlights of the fair. The collective Italian stand, promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE-ITA), will double in size compared to the last edition and will now cover 360m². More than 30 exclusive producers and importers of Italian wines have already confirmed their presence.
About Wine South America
Wine South America will be held from May 6 to 8, 2025, in Serra Gaúcha. The region is the largest producer of wines and sparkling wines in Brazil.
The city of Bento Gonçalves, which is hosting the event, is known as Brazil’s grape and wine capital and has the important Vale dos Vinhedos designation of origin (DO). The town of Pinto Bandeira, which is just a few kilometers from Bento Gonçalves, is also certified as a Denomination of Origin for sparkling wines, making it the first sparkling wine DO in the New World.
The WSA will bring together more than 360 national and international brands in a single environment, offering ample space to do great business within the entire wine chain. Wine South America is ideal for strengthening relationships and seeing Latin America’s largest concentration of wines up close.
